Georges Barboteu

Georges Barboteu , born with Algiers on April 1st 1924 and deceased the September 30th 2006 with Paris, was a Corniste and Compositeur French.

Wire of a professor of horn to the Academy of Algiers, it began itself to play about it at the nine years age, and gained the first price with eleven. It joined the Symphony orchestra of the radio of Algiers at fourteen years then the National orchestra of France in 1948. It entered to the Conservatoire of Paris in 1950, of which it obtained the price of honor the same year.

In 1951 it gained the first price of the international Concours of musical execution of Geneva. He was the principal horn player of the Concerts Lamoureux then starting from 1969 of the Orchestre of Paris. He taught his instrument with the Academy of 1969 with 1989, and founded the Quintet Ars Nova .

He left an important discography, recording many pages of concerting music and chamber music, energy of the XVIIe century at the time contemporary.

He wrote books of study of the horn, but also composed forty parts for horn alone or with other instruments which were often useful in the examinations of the Academy.
