Georges-Marc Benamou

Georges-Marc Benamou , born on March 30th 1957 in Saïda in Algeria, is a journalist French. Since May 2007, it is to advise President of the French Republic Nicolas Sarkozy for the Culture and the Audiovisuel.

Biography

After having obtained a control of Right and a training certificate to the profession of lawyer (Wrapped), it begins his career from journalist with Provence , then, in 1980, with the Quotidien of Paris , directed by Philippe Tesson. It becomes then international reporter to the magazine the New Arts persons, then in the group Hachette Filipacchi of 1983 to 1985.

Helped by Pierre Bergé, chairman of Yves the St. Lawrence, near of François Mitterrand and patron, it founds then, in November 1985, the monthly magazine Globe , a newspaper of left, pro-mitterrandien, antiracist, antiintegrisms… which marks this period. He calls on the intellectuals who try to bore, through the events, the personalities and the national and international facts of company, the secrecies of the time, that of the " Years tournantes" , according to the title of the work which gathers with the editions of the Seuil in 1992 " The best of Monthly magazine 1985-1992 ". Of " Globe" with " Hebdo" Earth;

In 1992, the monthly magazine stops a few months to change, in February 1993, in weekly magazine, whose first editor association is Jacques Bouzerand which comes from the Point. Globe Hebdo innovates in the form by using in full page the computer graphics, the cartography…; by publishing texts of writers like Edgar Morin, Marguerite Duras… and of the books of photographs of photographers like Marc Riboud… the weekly magazine ceases being published in July 1994. During all these years Georges-Marc Benamou often meets the president of the Republic François Mitterrand which was caught of affection for him.

In 1995, it is to advise with the direction of the information of France 2, before becoming director of the drafting of the weekly magazine the Event of Thursday in 1997, qu ' it renames the Event and directs until 1999.

He is then leader-writer with Nice-Morning , Provence and with Europe 1. He intervenes also regularly in are not afraid of the words , a daily program of debate presented by Samuel Etienne diffused on the chain of information uninterrupted I>Télé as from 2005.

In 2005, its book the Last Mitterrand makes scandal by describing Mitterrand, at the time of its last midnight supper with Latche, tasting Ortolan S, - a protected space -, with its close relations. According to Pierre Bergé, the anecdote is “a ashamed lie” because “Mitterrand was so badly that it could not sit down at table and the ortolan buntings had been served the year of front”.
