George Washington Goethals
George Washington Goethals (born on June 29th 1858 and dead on January 21st 1928) was famous a civil engineer and officer of the US Army, primarily known to have supervised the construction and the opening of the Canal of Panamá. It gave its name to a bridge located between New York and Elizabeth, the Goethals Bridge and with a decoration given to the engineers, the Goethals Medal . Goethals had been born in the district from Brooklyn, with New York before off following studies to the City College New York, then with the Military academy of West Point of which it was graduate in 1880.
