Pressures on the Agency by the Bush administration
The shortly after the attacks of September 11th, 2001, George Tenet indicates that it met at the White House the special adviser of the Department of Defense Richard Perle, which would have said to him in substance that Iraq was to pay for these attacks. The majority of the other persons in charge met were also obsessed by the search for bonds between Saddam Hussein and Usama Bin Laden. All sought only one pretext to attack Iraq and cash took for money the allegations of the opponent exiled Ahmed Chalabi who pushed to reverse the Iraqi dictator.
Returning on the National Estimate Intelligence of the CIA which affirmed in December 2002 that Iraq had weapons of massive destruction, Tenet indicates that the agency carried out this report/ratio in all haste in order to influence the elected officials of the American Congress and the world public opinion. He recognizes that the CIA heavily was mistaken, since no stock of weapons of massive destruction was discovered in Iraq after the fall of the mode of Saddam Hussein, but he blames on this Dick Cheney subject which made then statements going well beyond the analyzes provided by the agency of Langley, in particular on the alleged uranium which the Iraqi president would have imported of Niger to develop nuclear weapons.
It is also Dick Cheney who, according to the ex-owner of the CIA, asked as of the autumn 2001 the National Security Agency to increase the monitoring of the telephone calls and Internet concerning Iraq. As for the Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, which before September 11th refused to take account of its reports/ratios alarming on the Al-Quaïda terrorist threat, she would have asked him to then in person disseminate false informations with the press to blame Iraq. In spite of the strong pressures of the falcons néoconservateurs, the CIA however always refused to affirm that bonds existed between Al Quaïda and Saddam Hussein, defends George Tenet.
Fight against Al Queda
In these memories, it indicates that the Enveloppes contaminated with the bacillus of coal sent at the end of 2001 to several people were a plan of Al-Qaeda developed a few months earlier.
