George Smiley

George Smiley is a Personnage of fiction created by the writer John the Square.

Smiley is an officer of Renseignement working for the Secret Intelligence Service (often mentioned like the Circus in the novels and films, because of its localization in Cambridge Circus, in London, in the work of John the Square), the British external intelligence service. He is the main character of certain novels ( the Mole , People of Smiley …) and a minor character in others.

George Smiley represents the prototype of the anti James Bond. Equipped with a frightening intelligence, all the more frightening as she does not guess herself to see it, equipped with a memory “on which he lives” since more than thirty years, equipped with an intuition suraigüe turning to paranoia, equipped with complexes of inferiority because he is small and fatty, equipped with a superiority complex because he knows himself more intelligent than his adversaries (than Karla in particular, its Soviet counterpart), and even as her colleagues, George Smiley is a spy as frightening as atypical.

Its address is: 9 Bywater Street with Chelsea (London).

Description

Main character of many novels, his physical description is rare and brief.

“- It resembles a clamping plate, gets dressed like a bookmaker and I would give my two eyes to have a brain like his. And during the war, he dribbled about it. But really dribbled.

My faith, it was true that it resembled a clamping plate a little. Short and squat, it carried glasses to thick glasses which enlarged the eyes to him. As for its clothing, not of doubt, they were curious. And expensive, moreover, that jumped to the eyes. But its jacket seemed curved exactly where one did not have. Rigby was especially surprised of its timidity. It had expected to see somebody of a little too sure of him, of a little too finaud for Carne, whereas the manners of Smiley indicated serious and a reserve which liked the preserving tastes of Rigby. ”
