George Pozer
George Pozer , anglicized name of Johann Georg Pfotzer , (1752 - 1848). Born in Wilstedt in Germany, he emigrates in England in 1773 and goes later to New York where he becomes merchant. Loyal supporter, it leaves the the United States after the war of Independence to turn over in England. In 1785, it arrives at the Canada and is established in the town of Quebec. It acquires of vast grounds whose seigniory of Aubert-Galleon in Beauce and becomes thus the fourth lord of Aubert Gallion in 1807. Ten years later, it makes come to St-Georges 189 from his German compatriots. The majority died during a clearing degenerating into conflagration mortal. After this missed immigration, Pozer (a man however resolutely loyal supporter and Protestant), collaborates with the Catholic Clergy. It makes personal gift with Mgr Signay of the current ground of the church St-Georges. This event marks the beginning of a collaboration between the Pozer family and the catholic community and French-speaking person which contributed much to the development of St-Georges. The erection of a vault-school is done at the place where the monument today the St-Georges embanking is located the dragon. The name of Saint-Georges was given in the honor of George Pozer. The body of George Pozer does not rest with the cemetery seigneurial of the Pozer family of St-Georges but with the cemetery Mount Hermon with Sillery (Quebec).
He is the father of Jacob Pozer and the grandfather of Christian Pozer.
