George Medal

The George Medal was created by the British king George VI, in order to be able to reward the members for the the Commonwealth who would achieve heroic actions in times of peace. The first matter of this Médaille is to reward the civilians. It is not allotted to soldiers only to honor them with an action which would not be covered by existing military decorations.

The royal law creating this George Medal was published in January 1941.
