Create in 1969, the INP of Toulouse (INPT) is a public corporation of higher education attached to the Minister of education Main road, Higher education and Research with the row of Université. It is one of the three polytechnic National institutes French with those of Nancy (INPL) and Grenoble (INPG). At the local level the INP of Toulouse east member of the University Network Toulouse the Midday-Pyrenees, conference of the presidents of university.

The INP of Toulouse profits from a cultural and scientific environment exceptional to the crossroads of the Southern axes Northern and Is Western Europe.

With more than 600 regional actors of industry, research, formation, but also of the public authorities, and the socio-economic partners the INP takes an active part in the aeronautical Pole of competitiveness, spaces and embarked systems, with the Pole of competitiveness cancer-bio health, and Agrobiopôle.

The INPT has three main missions:

  • the initial training of engineers

  • continuing education
  • research and the Technology transfer bound for the companies

Initial training

The schools of engineers who compose the INPT are four:

All these schools are located at Toulouse (Except the ENIT with Tarbes).

Initially, the INPT recruited the large majority of its pupils - engineers starting from the Preparatory classes at the scientific universities. Today, the INPT set up (in collaboration with the Institut National Polytechnique of Lorraine and the Institut National Polytechnique of Grenoble) an integrated preparatory cycle: the CP.

Research

Research with the INPT is characterized by:
  • of the laboratories of quality recognized by the great research organizations (CNRS, INRA) or the Minister of education Main road, of Higher education and Research,
  • a strong partnership with the socio-economic medium,
  • a continuous support for the multi-field sets of themes,
  • a participation in the great national technological operations (networks, incubators, creations of companies),
  • an offer of 10 Doctoral Schools inter-establishments which generate a flow of 100 INPT/an theses,
  • an accompaniment of the doctors of the INPT thanks to the Department of Formation to the Trades of Research,
  • sINPThèse, the site of the confederation of the doctorands INPT

Approximately 850 researchers of the INPT (teacher-researchers, researchers of great organizations, thésards) are gathered in laboratories associated with CNRS, with INRA, the Ministries and other Toulouse universities.

Demonstrations

Each year take place in Toulouse INPiades, tournament sporting inter-schools of the INP, as well as the spring of the INP, events in cultural matters.
