George Herbert (Lord Carnarvon)
George Edward Stanhope Molyneux Herbert more known as a Lord Carnarvon , is a British Egyptologist , born on June 26th, 1866 with the castle of Highclere with Newbury in the Berkshire (England), dead on April 5th, 1923.
Biography
It becomes at 23 years, following the death of his father, the 5th count Carnarvon and is with the head of a colossal fortune and castle with 1.450 km ² (: 36000 acres). It Marie in 1895 with Almina Wombwell. It is seriously wounded at the 34 years age following an car accident. He will suffer all his life from it. Its many readings during its long convalescence and in particular that of the book of Gaston Maspero decide it to leave for the Egypt to buy a concession and to be able to make excavations.
Howard Casing and falls it from Toutânkhamon
It meets Howard Carter in 1906. It obtains a license of excavations for the Vallée of the kings in June 1914. November 4th, 1922, Carter discovers the entry of a tomb inviolate, that of the Pharaon Toutânkhamon. Lord Carnarvon will attend discovered this tomb in spite of his staggering health, but will not be likely to attend the opening of the funerary room because he will die at the 57 years age of the continuations of a puncture of mosquito, in Cairo, on April 5th, 1923 with 1:45. He is buried in the park of the castle of Highclere.
“Curse of the Pharaon”
He would have been the first victim of the Malédiction of the Pharaon. At the time of its death on April 5th, 1923, some affirmed that its dog pushed a howl before also dying him, and all the lights of the castle of Highclere as those of the city of Cairo in Egypt died out, and than one found no explanation to these breakdowns. Twenty-six other people having a bond with the discovery of the tomb of Toutânkhamon would have died prematurely without one including/understanding of which disease they were reached. Some believe that it would be caused by the air of the tomb remained closed during: 3000 years. To note however that Howard Carter, the first to enter there, did not die that in 1939 of natural cause, as well as hundreds of workmen, the curious one, and among them of the foreign sovereigns, who visited fall it.
