George Gervin

George Gervin (born the April 27th 1952 with Strait, Michigan) is a former player of Basket-ball states-unien, elected among the Meilleurs players of the fiftieth anniversary of the NBA.

This back of the Virginia Squires in league ABA and of the Spurs de San Antonio and Chicago bulldozers in NBA forever marked less than 14 points in a match over its fourteen seasons of professional tennis shoe. Its average of points in NBA rises at 26,2 points per match. Gervin played with Julius Erving (in Squires) and Michael Jordan (with the bulldozers), although Jordan played only 18 matches, because of a wound, at the time of their only season common to Chicago.

Called Iceman for its imperturbable side on the ground, Gervin was initially famous for its talents of marker, finishing better marker three years of row, of 1978 with 1980. It will take again this title in 1982.

The conquest of its first title of better marker in 1978 was very disputed, David Thompson releasing it only of 7 hundredths of pts per match (27,22 against 27,15), although Thompson has score 73 points for its last match of regular season, when Gervin makes a success of of them only 63 points (of which a record of 33 pts in the second quarter time!).

Its trademark was the finger roll , i.e. to conclude its double steps while making roll the ball on its fingers.

Gervin was introduced with the Basketball Hall off Famed, and saw its number 44 withdrawn by Spurs and was elected in the 50 best players of NBA in 1996.
