George Clifford

George Clifford (1685 - 1760), Jurisconsult Dutch, was made a name as botanist.
He had joined together in his ground of Hartecamp the most beautiful collection of flowers which existat of its time; he entrusted the direction of it to Carl von Linné (1707-1778), of which he was the constant guard. Linné described its collection under the name of Hortus Cliffortianus and gave its name to a botanical kind.
