George Bridgetower
George Augustus Polgreen Bridgetower (* Biała, Poland, February 29th 1780 - † London, February 20th 1860) was a Violon ist Polish.
Wire of a Caribbean and Polonaise, early virtuoso (it made a European round as of 1789), it enjoys sound living of a great popularity and passed the major part of its life in England where it accepted various honorary distinctions and directed the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Orchestra . In 1803, his/her friend Beethoven intended to dedicate to him its Sonate for violin n° 9 which, following a quarrel, went finally to Rodolphe Kreutzer. Irony of the history, Kreutzer refused to play this partition, and it is Bridgetower which ensured the creation of work (with Beethoven with the piano) on May 24th, 1803.
