George Blanda
George Blanda , born the September 17th 1927 with Youngwood (Pennsylvania) in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, is a former American player of American football. This wire of underground worker evolved/moved 26 seasons as a professional (NFL or AFL). He is the holder of a certain number of records in the world of the NFL.
Biography
Recruited in 1949 for 600 dollars by the Chicago Bears of George Hauled, Blanda imposes itself like holder in 1953 after a rapid hook by Baltimore. During the period 1949 - 1952, it played even like linebacker. Blanda does not benefit a long time from its statute of holder. Victim of a wound in 1954, it plays the utilities during the four following seasons, especially like kicker. Wearied not to be used like quarterback, Blanda puts a term at its career in 1958.After one white season, Blanda joined the Houston Oilers in 1960 at the double station of quarterback and kicker. Under its control, Oilers gain title AFL in 1960 and 1961. In 1962, Oilers are inclined finally after prolongation. Blanda passes to the Oakland Raiders in 1967. With Raiders, it gains title AFL in 1967 and fails finally in 1968 and 1969. Invited to dispute the Super Bowl II the January 14th 1968 with Miami vis-a-vis the champions of NFL, the Green Bay Packers, Raiders are inclined.
In 1970, the AFL is incorporated in the NFL. With Raiders, Blanda is beaten finally conference AFC in 1970.
It was allowed with the Pro Football Hall off Famed in 1981.
