George Allen, Jr.

George Felix Allen (born in 1952 with Whittier, in California) is a American Politician , member of the Republican party. It was Gouverneur of Virginia of 1994 with 1998 and senator of this State to the Congrès of the United States of 2001 with 2006.

Family and young age

George Allen, Jr. was born the March 8th 1952 in Whittier in California. It grew with Chicago and Los Angeles.

His/her father, George Herbert Allen, of Dutchwoman-Irish-Scottish origin, was a legendary trainer of American football of the team of Rams of Los Angeles and Redskins of Washington

His/her mother, Henrietta Lumbroso, are of free-Tunisian origin. It is member of the majestic family sépharade Lumbroso. According to Allen, his/her maternal grandfather was prisoner of a Concentration camp Nazi at the time of the Second world war.

George Allen, Jr. is graduate in history and right of the Université of Virginia.

He is married and father of three children.

Political career

Of 1983 with 1991, George Allen, Jr. is member of the room of delegated State of Virginia, with the seat held formerly by Thomas Jefferson.

Of 1991 with 1993, he is an elected official of the Chambre of the Representatives of the United States during only one mandate.

Of 1994 with 1998, he is governor of Virginia and lance his version of the " contract with Amérique" by analogy with that launched at the national level by Newt Gingrich against Bill Clinton.

George Allen, Jr. with the Sénat of the United States in November 2000 by beating the democratic senator was elected outgoing, Charles Robb. He is then the only republican to beat a Democratic senator in station. The electoral campaign of 2006

At the time of the electoral campaign of 2006 for the renewal of its seat to the Senate, its democratic adversary is James H. " Jim" Webb, Jr, a veteran of the Vietnam whose son is soldier in Iraq. Until the month of September 2006, the surveys gave to Allen a comfortable advance on its adversary. But at the time of a public meeting, he exclaimed “Welcome with the macaque!” with the address of a democratic militant originating in South Asia which had been located and which filmed the political meeting of Allen for the account of Webb. The video was widely diffused on Internet making lose in Allen the comfortable advance which it had in the surveys. Old knowledge of this one testified to its propensity to use the word nigger (“négro”) what he contradicted.

Nevertheless, with a question of a journalist, he denied to have Jewish origins before confirming it awkwardly.

The November 7th, 2006, at the evening of the results, it is very slightly outdistanced by its democratic adversary. He refuses to recognize his defeat and asks a new calculation. The November 8th, Associated Press and the chains CBS and NBC allot the victory to Jim Webb within sight of the calculation in progress. The November 9th, George Allen, Jr., recognizes its defeat and gives up the legal remedy which would consist in requiring an official calculation on November 27th, and its democratic competitor Jim Webb is officially declared victorious.

Until its failure to be made re-elect senator, Allen had been one of the possible applicants to the presidential election of 2008.
