Geography of the Ukraine

The Ukraine is the second larger country of Europe, with a strategic position in Eastern Europe. The country borders the banks north of the Black Sea (southern of the country), and the Carpates in the east. Moreover, more the high summit of Carpates is in Ukraine of the west, Hoverla (2.061m).

Relief

The Ukraine is a relatively flat country, with fertile grounds in its center, which enables him to have a productive agriculture. The mountains of the Ukraine are in fact the final parts of the reliefs of Central Europe and the Mediterranean.

Rivers and coasts

The country is crossed by several rivers:

Climate

The climate is of moderate type continental in vastest of the territory, and of Mediterranean type in the Crimea and on the coasts of the south bordering the Black Sea (Odessa,…). Precipitations are irregularly distributed, strong in north and the west, weaker in the east and south-east. The winters vary the soft one in the cold south in the central plains. The summer is tepid in the plains, and heat in the south.

Natural resources

The Ukraine is rich in mining resources: Iron, coal, Manganese, Natural gas, salt, Sulfide, Graphite, Magnesium, Nickel, mercury, Wood. One considers the arable lands at 58% of the total territory, with 26.050 km ² of irrigated grounds.
