Geography of the Midday-Pyrenees
The area the Midday-Pyrenees is in the south of France. It is the vastest area of France, with a surface comparable with that of the Denmark. Its surface is of 45.348 km ² in addition larger than that of country such as the Belgium or the Swiss . That can be regarded as an asset, a force but also like a weakness. The southern limit is the border with the Spain and the principality of Andorre. The Midday-Pyrenees is bordering with four French areas: the Aquitanian in the west, the the Limousin in north, the Auvergne in the North-East and the Languedoc-Roussillon in the east.
The Midday-Pyrenees counts eight departments: Batch, Aveyron, Tarn, Haute-Garonne, Ariège, Hautes-Pyrénées, Gers and Tarn-et-Garonne. Its chief town is Toulouse, which is also the chief town of the department of the Haute-Garonne.
The the Garonne is the principal river with its four affluents: the Gers, the Ariège, the Batch and the Tarn.
There are two important solid masses Montagne ux in the Midday-Pyrenees: the the Pyrenees in the south and the Massif Central in the North-East of the area. The Pyrenees constitute a natural border with Spain.
