Geography of Yonne
The geography of Yonne is that of a department where mèlent a sedimentary Bassin, the Paris basin, and of a primary education solid mass, the Morvan.
Situation
The Département of Yonne belongs to the area Burgundy. It is bordering on the departments of the Nievre in the South, of the Coast-with Or in the east, of the Aube in the North-East, the Seine-et-Marne in the North-West and the Loiret in the west.
General information
The diversity of the grounds (Granitic, Jurassic, Cretaceous and tertiary) and the provision of the sedimentary layers in concentric aureoles involve a great geographical complexity.-
With the northern , the department is an area of sedimentary plains which includes the agricultural Sénonais and the Pays of forest Othe, which dominates the valleys of the Yonne and the Armançon.
- with the western , the Gâtinais, corrugated plate pertaining to the tertiary central zone of the Paris basin.
- With the southern , the Burgundian plates, limestones, is inclined gently towards the North-West, but drops abruptly towards south-east; they include/understand the Auxerrois, platform rocky where the vine (Chablis) was established, the Tonnerrois, of lower altitude. The Morvan, forest old solid mass, is surrounded by argillaceous plains where the breeding is practiced, incised by the depression Houillère of the Dheune-Bourbince with in south-west, the Pays of Puisaye-Forterre, with the character of the woodlands

- the Chanteraine, affluent of Ouanne
- the Cléry, affluent of Loing
- the Peruseau, affluent of Ouanne
