Geography of Suriname
Located all at the north of Brazil, the Surinam (one can also write in French Suriname) is limited to the west by Guyana, the east by the French Guiana and north by the Atlantic Ocean. Surinam is the smallest State of South America, that is to say 163.000 km ², after the French Guiana (91 000 km ²), and equivalent all the same with nearly four times the Netherlands. Surinam is wooded to 96%, the population generally living on the littoral. The capital of the country is Paramaribo. The country is divided into ten districts: Brokopondo, Commewijne, Coronie, Marowijne, Nickerie, Para, Paramaribo, Saramacca, Sipaliwini and Wanica (see the chart).
