Geography of Nepal

Localization

The Nepal is a State landlocked of the the Himalayas, close to the India and China (Tibet). It is located in the Indian Sous-continent.

Surface

The Nepal is presented in the form of a narrow strip of land from 145 to 241 km broad, which is stretched on 800 km.

Climate and territorial subdivisions

South in North:

  • the Téraï, is a ground of alluvia located at the north of the India;
  • the Siwalik, located just above Téraï, consists of mountainous formations penetrated by the virgin forest;
  • the Mahabharata Lekh is an assembly line whose tops can reach: 3000 m;
  • the Nepalese plate is a 100 km broad band. It is, by far, the essential zone of the country;
  • the Himalayan chain, which comprises 9 tops exceeding them: 8000 m, of which the Everest, surrounded of more than 100 tops of an altitude exceeding them: 7000 m, constituting a giant wall enter the Nepal and the China.
