Geography of Aisne
The Géographie of the Aisne is characterized by its flat relief. Only is a Butte-témoin in full center on which the medieval city of Laon is planted. This central situation made of Laon the prefecture, whereas the town of Saint-Quentin, offset, is three times more populated.

Prefecture: Laon. Other important cities: Tergnier, Chauny, Hirson, Villers-Cotterêts, Saint-Quentin.
Agriculture
The town of Laon forms a pivot: in the south of the department, the wooded areas are numerous; in the north of the prefecture the fields of Betterave start, whose crisis of production of the Années 1970 marked the local decline. The Ovine breeding and Bovin is also practiced in greens pastures.
