Geography Markup Language

Geography Markup Language , whose acronym is GML , is a language derived from XML proposed by the Open Geospatial Consortium to express geographical devices. It makes it possible to model, transport and store geographical data with format XML.

Language GML makes it possible to describe:

  • the systems of projection,
  • the Geometry,
  • the Topology,
  • time,
  • measuring units,
  • and attributes of the geographical objects.

In January 2006, version 3.1.1 of the GML is proposed.
