Geoffroy III of Vendôme
Geoffroy III of Preuilly , known as Grisegonel , († 1145) count de Vendôme (1102 - 1137), wire of Geoffroy II and Euphrosine de Vendôme.
Still minor with died of his father, he becomes count de Vendôme under the supervision of his mother. Major in 1105, it fought soon Thibaut IV, count de Blois which did it captive. They were the monks of the Abbaye of the Trinity which paid its ransom.
That did not prevent it from having contentions with the latter in 1108. The monks having violated the immunity of the castle, it seized the Borough-Nine which belonged to the abbey. But Geoffroy ends up recognizing the rights of the abbey.
In 1120, under the banner of sound suzerain Foulque V count d' Anjou, it took share with the war of Louis VI the Large against the English in Normandy. Having succeeded in saving the profanation with the relics of holy Convenient and Holy Chrodegand during the plundering of the Abbey of Almenesches close to Alençon, it obtained the right to bring them back to the collegial Saint Georges.
In 1133, as a combatant Sulpice II of Amboise, it was again made prisoner and was released only the following year.
In 1137, it leaves to fight in Palestine, leaving its county to his/her son Jean Ier and dies in 1145 on its return.
