Gennaro Annese

Gennaro Annese (1604-1648) is one of the leaders of the Neapolitan République (1647).

Neapolitan arms manufacturer, it succeeds Masaniello with the head of Neapolitan risen against the Spanish government in 1647. He accepts the assistance of Henri II of Own way, but to prevent that this one proclaims lord of Naples, he is combined with the duke of Richelieu, sent to Naples to order the fleet, but, France ignoring the Neapolitan insurrections, Gennaro Annese agree to treat with the Spaniards who, in exchange of his rendering, promise the safe life to him. Little month after however, marked wrongfully to have begun again the contacts with the French, it is condemned to died and decapitated.
