Genevieve Béjart

Genevieve Béjart , known as Miss Herve , then Miss Villaubrun and finally Miss Aubry , was a French actress, baptized with Paris the July 2nd 1624 (birth date unknown, but undoubtedly very near to that of the baptism), and died the July 3rd 1675. She belonged to the Famille Béjart, celebrates family of actors of the 17th century.

Biography

It was one of the ten members of the troop of the Illustre Theater, made up on June 30th 1643.

It followed everywhere her brother Joseph and his sister Madeleine in their theatrical peregrinations. Also, to avoid the multiplication of the name Béjart on the posters, it took as name of theater Miss Herve , who was the name of young girl of his mother.

November 25th 1664, at 40 years, it Maria with the sior Loménie de Villaubrun, and it was made name then with the theater Miss Villaubrun . Her husband died a few years later and it remaria in 1672 with a man much younger than it, Jean B. Aubry of the Careers, wire of a Master Parisian paver. It was made call then Miss Aubry ; she was 48 years old.

Although it created only few roles, it remained faithful to the troop of Molière until the death of this last. It passed then in the troop of the Hôtel Guénégaud, until its death on July 3rd, 1675.
