General states of 1588-1589

General states of 1588-1589

The general states, convened by the king of France Henri III, took place with Blois and were marked by the will of the members of a league to obtain effective control on the council of the king, with an aim of making succeed Henri III the chief of the Ligue, Henri I {{er}} of Own way, with the detriment of Henri de Navarre. They ended in the assassination, on the order of the king, the Duc of Own way, then, a little later of his/her brother, the cardinal of Own way.
