General sports palate of Paris-Bercy

The general sports palate of Paris-Bercy , also shortened under the Initials POPB , is a theater located Boulevard of Bercy, in the district of Bercy, in the 12 {{E}} district of Paris.

Framed by the Park of Bercy and the Ministry for finances, it is located at the edge of the Right Bank of the the Seine, with the height of the Pont of Bercy, and is faced the library François-Mitterrand placed as for her on the Left bank.

Presentation

Of pyramidal form , it with the characteristic to have its walls covered with Lawn inclined. The metal Frame of the Roof RUE, imagined by Jean Proven, is supported by four enormous posts in Béton. Vast of: 55000  m ², the room can accommodate: 3500 with: 18000 spectators in a flexible space adapted to almost all the Sport S, including nautical , as with all the types of spectacles. The general sports palate also includes/understands a giant Patinoire, the Sonja-Neighed Patinoire.

This gigantic room acts also as room of Concert, accommodating Chanteur S and Musicien S of all styles; many artists make of it a date of Tournée in the French capital. For the configuration “concert”, the room perhaps adapted with a Scene in end of room or a scene known as “American”, i.e. central, the number of places varies then with the opening of the central pit.

History

This equipment is one of the first for the development of the Parisian east (well before the library François-Mitterrand, the Parc of Bercy, and the Ministry for Finances). It was conceived by the architects Michel Andrault and Pierre Parat, was built by Eiffage, and was inaugurated in 1983. It marks the north-western entry of the Parc of Bercy.

The general sports palate is the seat of regular or exceptional sporting events in innumerable different disciplines, of which certain unusual in a context “ indoor ”. One can retain inter alia:

Concerts

The first concert in Bercy was given by Elton John in 1984. Julien Clerc was the first French singer to invest the scene of the general sports palate, the following year. Will come then, enter others, Mylène Farmer, Madonna, Johnny Hallyday, Indo-China, Michel Sardou, Dorothée, France Gall, Paul McCartney and lately Michel Polnareff for his return to France after 34 years of exile which will be the only ones with being able to fill Bercy several weeks with sharp. Kofi Olomidé was the February 19th 2000, the first African singer to occur it and fill there (more than 18.000 people), thus opening the way with the Alpha Blondy, Papa Wemba or Youssou Ndour.

From July 6th to 8th 2007, the musical comedy the Sun king completes his three years of representation in this room.
