General governor

General governor is the title carried by the representative of the sovereign in the old colonies and the foreign territories under civil and/or military administrations, applying generally in the case of a regrouping of territories.

The function corresponds to the wali (or vali in Turkish) in the Structure of the Moslem capacity.

Nowadays, this title is always carried in several countries, of which the Australia, the Canada, the New Zealand.

It was also the title carried between on January 1st and on September 22nd, 1804 by Jean-Jacques Dessalines before he becomes emperor of Haiti.
