History

The company was founded by one of the Frères Schlumberger (Conrad) in 1931. One of its presidents is Leon Migaud. A street bears its name in Massy, city which accommodates the premises of the undertaking today.

In 1995, the CGG (general Company of geophysics) publishes a work on its history: adventurers of the Earth .

In 2005, the group repurchased with institutional investors 95% of the Norwegian group Exploration Resourcess ASA and Multiwaves ASA (specialized in the seismic navy). This repurchase will make it possible the group to double its fleet from 6 to 9 ships and to increase its market share in the seismic marine in 3D from 16% to 24%.
