General advice of the Alpes-Maritimes

The General advice of the Alpes-Maritimes is the assembly deliberating on the French Département of the the Alpes-Maritimes, decentralized Territorial collectivity . Its seat is with Nice.

According to an investigation Sofres realized in December 2005, 73% of the inhabitants of the the Alpes-Maritimes are satisfied of the action of the general advice.

The General advice of the Alpes-Maritimes includes/understands 52 general advisers resulting from the 52 Cantons of the Alpes-Maritimes. The absolute majority is historically on the right. The UMP lays out of 41 UMP members and connected, the group PS - Verts has about it 7 from which 5 result from the Cantons of Nice and groups it PCF 4 coming from the cantons of Nice and the back-country niçois.

In spite of the existence of an opposition and passionate debates, the political consensus is often found: since 2003, year of the election of Christian Estrosi to the presidency of the General advice, 97% of the deliberations were approved unanimously.

Budget

The general advice of the Alpes-Maritimes has in 2006 a budget of 1,246 billion euros (1,308 in 2007) which privileges more and more the investment (400 million euros, +18,5%) with the operation of the administration (- 0,44%). As comparison, the District council of Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure has a budget of 1,53 billion euros.

However, for 3 years, the general advice has made the choice of the taxation zero . Since 1999, this one moreover dropped by -12,6%.

The Chômage dropped by -8,5% as well as the number of RMI co.s of -1,6% (- 6% in 2007), the number of employment increased by 2%. 6.500 companies onté created increasing their turnover of 4%.

In 2007, with 450€/habitant, the general advice of the Alpes-Maritimes becomes the first of France in term of investment per capita.
