General Motors Places
The General Motors Places (called " GM Place " and " The Garage ") is a general sports room (arena) located at Vancouver, Colombia-British, Canada.
The GM Place accommodates the matches of the Canucks of Vancouver of the National league of hockey (LNH), it also accommodated during several years those of the Vancouver Ravens of NLL and the Vancouver Grizzlies of NBA. Grizzlies moved with Memphis, and Ravens have as for them goes bankrupt. The palate can accommodate to 18.630 spectators sitted for a match of hockey and 19.193 for a match of Basket-ball. It offers for the most fortunate 88 luxeuses continuations, 12 hospitality continuations and 2 195 seats of First class.
History
It was completed in 1995 at a cost of $160 million CAD and entirely financed on private funds. General Motors Canada bought the rights of name $18.5 million CAD for 20 years. Grand opening was held the September 17th 1995 and the first match of Hockey the September 23rd.This infrastructure replaced the Pacific Coliseum in the organization of the artistic and sporting events major of the town of Vancouver.
The November 17th 2004, Francesco Aquilini, chairman of Aquilini Investment Group, sign an agreement with John McCaw, the owner of Canucks of Vancouver and becomes thus the owner with 50% of the team and of the GM PLACES with McCaw.
Into 2006, the GM Place changed are table of the scores (ProStar LED).
The arena is served by the station of Skytrain Stadium-Chinatown Station.
