General Aircraft Limited
General Aircraft Limited , was an aeronautical Manufacturer of 1931 until his fusion with Blackburn Aircraft in 1949 to become Blackburn and General . Its principal productions were the sailplanes and the military light transport aircraft.
History
General Aircraft Limited was formed with the aerodrome of Croydon the February 27th 1931 to take again the credits of another company, Monospar Wing Company Ltd. In October 1934, the company was restructured and transferred to the aerodrome from Hanworth Feltham, In 1936, the company received the order to build 89 Hawker Fury II. This was followed by other contracts including the conversion of 125 Hawker Hinds in the formative planes. General Aircraft also been used as complex of repair for the Supermarine Spitfire and they modified the Hawker Hurricanes in Sea Hurricanes. The company became an important creator and manufacturer of sailplanes during the Second world war.After, the war, General Aircraft diversified its activities by building houses prefabricated as well as body of cars.
