Geluwe (in French Gheluve ) is a Belgian village , in Flanders-Eastern small town of surroundings 7500 inhabitants, belonging to the commune of Wervik,

Geography

Geluwe is located on the road main roads Ypres - Courtrai. It is a village agricultural, a little in the North-East of the center of Wervik and right outside the center of the town of Menin.

The locality has a hamlet, Ter Hand, located on the hills which surmount the valley of the Lys.

History

The village knew a history animated at the time of the two World wars: during the First World War, being right with the accesses of the face of the Battles of Ypres and of Covering of Ypres, Geluwe was a place of rest for the German troops. During the Second world war, the battle of Geluwe made many victims.
