Gecekondu
Turkish gece (night) and konmak (to be posed), a gecekondu , word for word “ it was posed this nuit ”, indicates in Turkey a dwelling built without permit building or, by extension, a whole district made up of this type of dwelling, a Bidonville. A significant part of the town of Istanbul would thus have been built without license.
