Gay district
merry Village , gay' tto , merry enclave , district homo , pink district , the qualifiers is multiple to indicate, a gay district of a big city. This one can be defined by the type of population, or by the presence of commercial establishments (restaurants, bars, boxes, bookstores…) and of institutions intended for the public LGBT. The density of this type of trade and the importance of the frequentation of the district, make it possible to define it as being an oasis of tolerance.
Such zones of regrouping represent oases of tolerance in cities generally perceived like hostile or quite simply foreign with needs LGBT. In more open cities, the Village can quite simply play a visible part of concentration of trade and services aiming at community LGBT. According to personal perception, some could fear a process of Community renfermement (gay' tto, the merry ghetto), but the subject still lends to discussion. It should be noted, also that many homosexual people, in particular in Europe, refuse to be comparable of office to a gay culture which would be based only on the consumerism and of the values of search éperdue for youth and the Discrimination.
