Gautier de Laon

Gautier or Walthar , killed in 892, was a count de Laon end of the 9th century. It was wire of Adalhelm, count de Laon.

For a badly known reason, the king Eudes, his probable first cousin, made it carry out in 892.

Documentation is dumb on its marriage and its descent. Recently was highlighted that identification between the Heilwis widow, mother of Raoul Ier de Vexin and remariƩe with Roger Ier de Laon, and Heilwis of the Friuli, woman of Hucbald de Gouy, was chronologically improbable. Settipani sees the Heilwis widow rather like a girl of Hucbald de Gouy and Heilwis of the Friuli, its first husband remaining unknown. However Raoul de Vexin, wire of the first marriage of Heilwis, is probably the father of Gautier I {{er}}, count de Vexin, and the count de Laon Gautier is proposed like first husband of Heilwis and father of Raoul de Vexin.
