Gaulle transalpine

The transalpine Gaulle was an area which included/understood almost the whole of the Gaulle, apart from the Gaulle cisalpine. The term was used by the Romains, the significance is Gaulle beyond the Alps (from the Roman point of view). It was distinguished thus from the Gaulle cisalpine, which was before the Alps, always from the Roman point of view.

Current France includes/understands old Gaulle mainly transalpine.

The southernmost part of this area (approximately current areas of Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure and the Rhone-Alps) became a province of the Roman République in 121 av. J. - CH.

Later, this area took the name of Gaulle Narbonnese. The north of the area, most of transalpine Gaulle, was conquered between 58 and 52 av. J. - C. by Jules César at the time of the Guerre of Gaules.
