Gaudenzio Ferrari

Gaudenzio Ferrari (Valduggia, ~1471 - Milan, 1546), known as the Milanese is a painter, a sculptor and an active Italian architect in his native Piedmont and in Lombardy, very influenced in painting by Léonard de Vinci and its tag-alongs Milanese like Bramantino.
Biography
It starts to paint with Varallo Sesia since 1507, then share to study in Milan, in the school of the cathedral with Stefano Scotto, and perhaps with Bernardino Luini.Then, he travels to Florence, then to Rome and in Ombrie, then to Arona and turns over to Varallo.
In 1513, Gaudenzio painted the Passion of Christ in a monumental fresco with the church Grazie Santa Maria in Varallo, the parete gaudenziana (the wall of Gaudenzio) including/understanding a central Crucifixion surrounded by 21 tables of a size of the quarter.
It there returns from 1524 to 1529 and organizes work in the vaults of the Mont Crowned of Varallo which are dispersed under the sanctuary of the top, connected all between them by a way, including/understanding a combination of Diorama S and statues of Terracotta life size of which it conceives a part.
It paints the chorus of the dome of Santa Maria dei Miracoli with Saronno and the frescos of Holy Anne, mixture of Milanese realism and Venetian colorism.
It is a very prolific painter, whose work suggests more the 15th century than the 16th century with religious subjects which are always pathetic.
Its high was, inter alia, Andrea Solario, Giovanni Battista Cerva, Giovanni Paolo Lomazzo and Fermo Stella.
He dies in Milan in 1546.
