Writing
Life of D' Artagnan which it could know rather well, because it was locked up with the Bastille whereas Besmaux, ex-companion of Artagnan, was Gouverneur, Courtliz drew an account where truth mixes with the forgery: they are the Mémoires of Mr. d' Artagnan , published in 1700 (either 27 years after the death of the Gascon hero ), of which is in its turn inspired to Alexandre Dumas for the Three Musketeers and for Twenty Years after .On several occasions besides, Courtilz wrote with the first anybody the memories others, those of the marquis de Montbrun or Mr. de Rochefort. One disparaged much his style, which however appears sharp and Picaresque.
