Gathering for France

The Rassemblement for France is a Political party French created by Charles Pasqua and Philippe de Villiers in 1999. It gathers dissidents of the Rassemblement for the Republic (RPR) and of the Mouvement for France (MPF). He is member of the European party Alliance for Europe of the Nations.
To the European elections of June 1999, Charles Pasqua and Philippe de Villiers lead the list Souverainiste entitled Rassemblement for France and the Independence of Europe (RPFIE) . It obtains 13,06% of the voices and 13 elected officials, among whom Marie-France Garaud, William Abitbol and Jean-Charles Marchiani. The congress founder of the Gathering for France (RPF) takes place in November of the same year.
The RPF bursts at the summer 2000. Philippe de Villiers denounces the management of the party by Charles Pasqua and recreates the Mouvement for France (MPF). William Abitbol and its partisans launch the movement Combats Souverainistes , which will adopt the candidature of Jean-Pierre Chevènement for the presidential election of 2002. Other militants create the Entente Souverainiste . Only Charles Pasqua and Jean-Charles Marchiani remain within the RPF.
With the legislative elections of 2002, the RPF, which defends of the ideas souverainists inherited the Gaullisme, 94.222 votes with the first turn obtain (that is to say 0,30% of the voices), and gain two seats with the National Assembly at the conclusion of the second turn.
In 2003, the RPF becomes the Rassemblement for France and the Independence of Europe . The party does not have any more a deputy with the the European Parliament. Charles Pasqua sits at the Sénat in the group of related UMP.
At the time of the presidential election of 2007, Charles Pasqua called Nicolas Dupont-Aignan and Christine Boutin to withdraw their candidature for the profit of Nicolas Sarkozy.
Secret funding of the RPF
The financing of the countryside of the RPF for the European elections of 1999 was the subject of an investigation. The instruction of 2001 to 2006 was carried out by the judge Philippe Courroye and was centered on the Affaire of the Casino of Animated.
Charles Pasqua was put in examination for “Faux”, “illegal Financement of electoral campaign” and “Breach of trust”. Six other people are also put in examination for “illegal financing of electoral campaign”: Michel Tomi, Marthe Mondoloni, both tenant of establishment of plays, Edgard Vincensini, Daniel Romo, Gilbert Musiquian and Robert Assadourian. The procedure against Robert Feliciaggi was suspended after its assassination with the airport of Ajaccio.
The judgment of the business of the financing of the European countryside of the RPF opened in Paris on November 5th, 2007. It should last until November 28th, 2007.
