Gaston Schoukens

Gaston Schoukens (or Felix Beautiful or Felix Beautiful) is a Belgian realizer born with Brussels on February 5th, 1901 and deceased on April 10th, 1961 in Brussels.

In 1926, it is made known with its first comedy Mister my driver . In 1930, it carries out the Family Klepkens , regarded as first Belgian sound film (the sound is recorded on Long-playing record). In 1931, it carries out the Belgian first Feature-length film using its optics which gathers music and images on the same support, in the prettiest dream . In 1932, it turns the Corpse n° 5 , with Fernand Crommelynck, Edouard Bréville, Marguerite Daulboys, Lucien Mussière and Zizi Festerat.

Gaston Schoukens was during nearly thirty years the figurehead of the Belgian Cinéma popular. In fact it approaches a little all the kinds, the documentary ( Belgian Football , 1922, Grand-place of Brussels , 1945), film of Art ( Our painters , 1926), the melodrama ( You will never know , 1927), the patriotic drama ( Crosses of Yser , 1928, corealized with Paul Flon) or the unslung comedies, such Ahead the music (1935) or Bossemans and Coppenolle (1938).

It is famous for its jokes in accent of Brussels, step close to Marcel Pagnol with Marseilles, which had a great success near the public, which made it possible Schoukens to finance films that the critics of the time did not appreciate. For example: the Four Musketeers (1934)
