Gaston Palewski

Gaston Palewski , born the March 20th 1901 with Paris and dead the September 3rd 1984 with the Castle of the Marsh to Saint-Chéron (the Essonne), is a French politician.

Biography

He is bachelor of arts Sorbonne. Its first owners are the Marshal Lyautey and Paul Reynaud. During the war, it accomplishes many military flights. It joined De Gaulle in London in 1940. It takes part in engagements against the Italians in Ethiopia. He is director of the cabinet of the de Gaulle general of 1942 to 1946. In 1951 he is elected appointed RPF of the the Seine and, of 1953 to 1955, he is vice-president of the National Assembly. He is deputy secretary near the president of the council Edgar Faure, from February 23rd to October 6th, 1955.

From 1957 to 1962, he is ambassador of France in Italy. April 14th, 1962, it is called by Georges Pompidou at the post of minister of State in charge with the Scientific research and the atomic and space questions, functions which it occupies until February 22nd, 1965. It was the first to occupy this station (see Liste of the French Ministers for Research and Technologies).

From 1965 to 1974, Gaston Palewski is president of the Constitutional council.

In 1964, he marries Violette of Talleyrand-Périgord, duchess of Sagan (born in 1915), girl of Hély de Talleyrand-Périgord, prince de Sagan and of the princess born Anna Gould. Between 1945 and 1974, he was the lover in London of the English écrivaine Nancy Mitford.

The leukemia which was to him mortal is perhaps due to the irradiation at the time of the Accident of Beryl.

It had a great influence in the gaullists mediums and the government of France.

He is the brother of the deputy Jean-Paul Palewski.
