Gaston Miron
Gaston Miron is a Poète and editor Québécois, born with Holy-Agathe-of-Mounts the January 8th 1928 and died with Montreal the December 14th 1996.
He is the cofounder of the Éditions of the Hexagon, in company of Gilles Carle, Portuguese Louis, Olivier Marchand, Mathilde Ganzini and Jean-Claude Rinfret. Founded in 1953, it acts of the first publisher of Québécois Poésie .
Gaston Miron publishes poems as of the Années 1950, in various daily newspapers and periodicals, of which the Duty, Liberté and Parti taken. In 1953, it publishes with Olivier Marchand a collection of poetry, Two bloods , which will inaugurate the Editions of the Hexagon. Being however dissatisfied poems which it published in a scattered way, it is only at the dawn of the Années 1970 that it is let convince to gather them, with some of its texts in prose, in a collection entitled the Man rapaillé , his Master works (Prix Apollinaire). Published in 1970 with the Presses of the University of Montreal (and not with the Editions of the Hexagon), Miron will work over again this work constantly - seven editions of the texts were published. Gaston Miron is regarded still today as the largest poet of contemporary Quebec, by the force and the depth of the universal questioning which it is posed, on itself and cultural conditionings which were imposed to him at the time, in anglicized Quebec of any share. Its poem “walk with the love” one of most beautiful is ever written in French America.
