Gasparo Berti

Gasparo Berti (Mantoue 1600 - Rome 1643) was a Physicien and Italian Astronome. He took part with Evangelista Torricelli in the description of the Atmospheric pressure.

Biography

Of 1640 with 1643, with Raffaello Magiotti, Gasparo Berti works out various experimental apparatuses, of the syphons of more than 11 m in height to show that a water column cannot go up to more than 10,30 Mr. Malheureusement his experiments could not convince holding them of the vacuity of which Athanasius Kircher which reflects in doubt the sealing of its apparatuses.

Gasparo Berti was also interested in other practical problems as measurement of moisture and succeeded Benedetto Castelli with the pulpit of Mathématiques to the college of Rome (1643).
