Gaspard Momartz
Gaspard Louis Momartz, Gasparo Ludovico Momarts in the acts of catholicity, (born on June 19th 1696 with Péra, Constantinople, deceased November 10th 1761 at the same place) was first Drogman of Austria to Constantinople. He was baptized and was buried in the church Sainte-Marie Draperis. He left a work of importance written in modern Greek on the life at that time, the Bosporomachia. This work was published in 1766 by Eugenios Voulgaris with Leipzig.
Of Flemish origin by his father and Latin of the East by his mother, it was Jeune languages of Austria in 1719 with his Carl brother. It occupied an important station within the embassy from Austria to Constantinople from which it became first drogman. He played a great part in the Paix of Belgrade in 1739. He accomplished a voyage to Algiers in 1747 and also of other missions with Tunis in 1748 and 1749. He was at that time Secrétaire of legation.
He had married Lucie Testa (1722-1745), girl of Gaspard Testa, drogman Russia then of Holland in Constantinople, and of Marie De Negri. Of his two daughters, it has a many descent through the families Fonton and Hübsch de Grossthal.
