Gasgas

The Gasgas (or Kaskas ) are people of minor Asia of III.

Origin and general information

Gasgas are people come from the Pontiques mountains. Called " Weavers of flax and pig breeders " , they settle in the north of the Anatolia, in the valleys located between the northern border of the kingdom hittite and the Black Sea, having seems a seminomad lifestyle. Gasgas do not have a language not written and do not build cities.

Our knowledge of these people comes above all from the found hittites sources to Hattusha, the capital of this kingdom, in particular of the royal chronicles and the texts beginning again of the diplomatic agreements concluded with tribes gasgas. The culture gasga is extremely badly known of this fact: only some names of people and divinities. But they less were not of the frightening adversaries for Hittites, taking on several occasions their capital, and perhaps which they are partly responsible for the final destruction of this kingdom at the beginning of the 12th century.
