Gary Teichmann
Gary Teichmann , born the January 9th 1967 with Gwelo with the Zimbabwe, is a former player of Rugby to XV South-African, which evolved/moved at the station of third line centers.
Born in Zimbabwe, it is named very early captain of its province of Native, province which it leads to the victory in Currie Cup, the greatest South-African competition, in 1992,1995 and 1996, with two finales in 1993 and 1999. Always with the Native one, it finishes finalist from Super the 10 in 1994, competition which is the ancestor of the Super 12. In this competition, it will reach the final in 1998 with the Sharks, province mainly built around the Native one. In its career, it will have represented the Native one or Sharks with 144 recoveries.
After a participation in a round in Argentina in 1993, then in 1994 in British Isles, he plays its first test for the Boks in 1995 against the Welsh in Ellis Park de Johannesburg. After only six matches with the Springboks , he becomes the captain about it. He will ensure this role of captain 36 recoveries, for 27 victories. During this period, the Springboks of the selector Nick Mallett under the direction of Teichmann, carries out a series record of 17 consecutive victories, of which victory in the tri-nations 1998. This series is completed in December 1998 with Twickenham against the English.
Judged out of form by the selector Nick Mallett, it is private world cup 1999. This ousting is the subject of a national controversy. That puts a term at a series record of 39 consecutive matches with Boks, series which still constitutes the South-African record. It will rejouera with Boks only after the departure of Mallett in 2000.
In 2000, it expatriate in Europe joining the Welsh province of Newport.
In 2001, he announces finally his withdrawal of the world of Rugby.
