Gary Gordon

Gary Ivan Gordon was born on August 30th, 1960 in Lincoln, with the the United States. It was sniper in the Delta Forces. It took part in the Bataille of Mogadiscio, on October 3rd, 1993. Its mission in this battle, with its fellow-member Randall Shughart, was to fly over the zone of the raid in the helicopter and to protect those from the enemy snipers. But the American mission failed when 2 of the helicopters were cut down.

By seeing the enormous withdrawal period of arrival of the helps, Gordon and Shughart proposed with the command operations to go down on the place from the crash landing to foot, to make safe the zone of the second crash landing. This permission was refused twice. However, with the 3rd request, it was accepted.

They were released on the place of the crash landing and put the pilot of the helicopter, Michael Lasting, with the shelter. They pushed back the attackers, with the number of a hundred, after a fashion. Gary Gordon was the first to be killed. Randall Shughart was it as a second.

Gary Ivan Gordon received on a purely posthumous basis, Medal off Honor, the medal of honor of the American Congress, the highest distinction for an American soldier.
