Gary Brooker (born in 1945) is an English musician, singer-pianist-type-setter.

He begins the courses from piano at 11 years and passes quickly from traditional to Ray Charles. With beginning of the year 60 it forms the group The Paramounts with Robin Trower with the guitar, Chris Copping with low and Barry J. Wilson with the battery. After some individual and an album, Gary Brooker leaves the group. It then meets Keith Reid, which shows him poems that it writes. Gary Brooker decides to put them in music and both propose these songs with several interpreters, of which the Beach Boys, which refuse them. They then decide to assemble their own group which will be composed of several ex-members of The Paramounts , to which unite the organist Matthew Fisher and the bass player David Knights. Remain to find a name to him; a friend of the group suggests to them taking again that of a cat of the district, Procol Harum.

The group meets an immediate success thanks to its planetary tube has Whiter Shade off Blade but knows thereafter many changes of personnel and ends up dissolving in 1977. Gary Brooker then records several albums in solo and joined Eric Clapton for the album Another Ticket .

In 1991, Gary Brooker joined the Procol Harum reformed.
