Career
Gary Bailey grows with Johannesburg, in South Africa. After having obtained a purse, it was registered in first year at the university of Witwatersrand with Johannesburg in 1975, and began its career with the professional club of the university, Wits University. In 1977, Bailey forced the destiny while deciding to leave only for England in order to go to present itself to Manchester United to request a test! At the end of this voyage, which it paid of its pocket, one gave him his chance and it was retained. It signed its first contract in January 1978 and began in team first in November 1978 against Ipswich Town, the club for which his/her father had played more than 300 times at the same station as him in the Fifties and Sixties.Known for its impossible stops, it was it also for the coarsest errors in the aerial sorties in spite of its imposing physique. In Manchester, one still speaks about that which it finally made of the Coupe of England against Arsenal in 1979, which made it possible Alan Sunderland to register the victorious goal (2-3). The large fair one was avenged by gaining twice this famous F Cup in 1983 and 1985.
It was selected for the team of England twice and took part in the World cup with the Mexico in 1986 as a second guard behind Peter Shilton. This year, it contracted a wound with the knee which is really never cured and had to put a term at its professional path in 1987, at the age of only 28 years.
It then decided to turn over to South Africa, where its family was (his wife is originating in the Cape). He played two additional seasons with aims of the largest club of the country, the Kaizer Chiefs, with which he did not gain less than five trophies!
Gary Bailey is reconverted into the media, initially with the radio, then since 1990 as consultant for television. He works today for the South-African television channel Supersport as commentator of the matches of the first local division of football, the English Castle Premiership, and competitions (championship and cuts). He belongs to the ambassadors charged to promote the Football world cup 2010 which must be held in South Africa. He is graduate of physics (MBA).
