Garth Ennis

Garth Ennis (born the January 16th 1970 with Hollywood in Northern Ireland) is a scenario writer of Comic S Irish, famous for the series Preacher Co-created with Steve Dillon and left to Vertigo. Its work is recognizable by an extreme violence accompanied by a black humor and blasphématoire (very comparable with Quentin Tarantino). The draftsmen with whom he most frequently collaborates are Steve Dillon, Glenn Fabry and John McCrea.

Ennis began its career from scenario writer in 1989 with the series Troubled Souls telling the history of a young person Protesting Apolitique being found mixed in spite of him with the Irish conflict. There was a continuation, For has Few Troubles More , then still a derived series, Dicks , published by Caliber in 1997.

True Faith , a graphic Novell drawn by Warren Pleece and left in 1990 was the subject of a withdrawal of the sales, the topic of the religious satire not having been appreciated by the religious associations. However, Vertigo of left a republication in 1997.

Then Ennis wrote for 2000 AD . It replaced John Wagner on his series headlight, Judge Dredd.

First American series that it scénarisa was Hellblazer , at cd. Comics. He wrote it until 1994 with Steve Dillon with the drawing (It is this same duet which will be at the origin of Preacher). From 1993 to 1995, Ennis worked with John McCrea on another title cd., The Demon . It is in these comics that for the first time the hired killer Tommy Monaghan appeared, more known under the name of Hitman which was entitled to its own series.

The most famous work of Ennis is without question the maximum-series of 66 episodes Preacher , which it Co-created with Steve Dillon. This series tells the adventures of a priest having capacities Surnaturel S, in the search of God, this last having given up the ground. This series was very acclaimed by all the Média S, and knew one big hit.

Ennis wrote the scenario of Hitman at the same time as Preacher . And although Hitman had a more discrete exit, the series lasted 60 numbers of 1996 to 2001.

In 2001, Ennis started again to work on Judge Dredd but decided that it would be the last time that it would deal with this character.

Ennis currently works on the series Punisher: Max . In March 2006 he announced to work on a new series The Boys , which, according to its dires, will be more extreme than Preacher.

Among his next series, one can quote off Chronicles Wormwood , the first arc of Midnighter (which will be thus a spin-off of The Authority); a mini-series called Battler Briton , and he would collaborate with John Woo for Virgin Comics.
